Sela connects people who need small jobs done with college students nearby who want the work. You post a job, name your own price, and vetted students in the area claim it — with in-app messaging before anyone starts and reviews tracking how it went.
I co-developed the app for two Samford University students and built the underlying platform it runs on. It launched on the App Store in March 2026 under HelpHand LLC, currently serving Birmingham, and went on to win $20,000 at Innovate Alabama.
The product has since been extended by a contracted team — the monetisation surfaces, Need It Now priority posting and the Sela Pro tier were added after my work — but the foundation underneath is the one I built.

- 03Two-sided marketplace: job posting, student vetting, claiming and reviews.
- 04In-app messaging so both sides can talk before work begins.
